Class Expectations

Academic Work

Try your best at everything we do, effort counts more than ability in CAWD. Students who consistently work hard at all aspects of class tend to get the best grades.

Be prepared. Whether it is assigned work, quizzes, English, etc, make sure you get your work done on time. Full credit is only given to work which is:

  • Turned in on time
  • Named as we specify
  • In location we specify

Class Conduct

Respect

Treat everyone with respect.  There is no acceptance of harassment, bullying, name calling, or intimidation of any kind.  As with all areas of life, there may be one or two students in class that you don’t get along with.  This is understandable, but it does not give anyone the right to misbehave or make anyone feel uncomfortable.  Accept it, and move on.

This idea of respect includes CTE members who are not directly your teachers/classmates. We will deal with many members of the staff who will get the same level or respect you expect to receive; courteously and respectfully.

There will be no bullying, name calling, harassment or attempts to make anyone feel uncomfortable in class. If you ever feel you or someone else is being picked on, bullied, etc, talk with us, or email us of you would prefer. We don’t tolerate these types of behavior, and we will have a class free of that behavior.

Punctuality

Be on time. We take attendance based on the computer clock says, not what the lunchroom clock says, not what your watch says, etc. Being late affects your grade, just as being late would affect your job in the real world.

Working in Class

When in CAWD, you are expected to stay in your seat working, quietly. This is not the class to wander around socializing; do that outside our class. If you are talking to a classmate about a project, please do it at a level to not bother others. From more than 10 feet away from you, we don’t want to hear you. If we have to talk to you about these issues it affects your grade in a negative way.

Music in class

You may listen to music when working on projects.  The following guidelines must be followed:

  • Only when we are in project, not when going over new material, or presenting.
  • Never during English with Mr. Bisson
  • At a volume where if I am standing next to you I don’t here your music.
  • No videos in class, either on ipods, iphones, the internet, etc.  Audio – ok, audio and video = not ok.
  • Never when working with visitors, who we all will work with throughout the year.

Cell phones

Cell phones are never to be used in class.  Turn them to silent or off between 9:40 and 2:05.  Don’t try to lean back and text.  Cell phones should be out of sight at all times during class.  You can use cell phones in the classroom before or after school.  If you want to use it at break or at lunch, go the the cafeteria or the lobby.

Open campus

This year only seniors with appropriate paperwork turned in will be allowed to leave campus during lunch.  Juniors will not be allowed to leave the school.
