9:45 Recognition Night

CTE’s Recognition Night is Thursday, June 15th.  This will be our last day of school.  We will rehearse on Thursday afternoon, and then have our event that night.  This is one week from today!

Tickets are not required to get in, but if you would like more tickets Mrs. Robert has then in the main office.

Please make sure you have requested off work, and your family and friends know as well.  It is a nice way to end the year.

And for what you all choose to do after Recognition Night, that is up to you.  Denny’s at midnight was always popular, as is the random bonfire.  Just be safe.

9:45 Final Exam Professional Portfolio

The window to test your contact form is open.  When you ready I will go to your website and put in the passphrase for you.  I then need to see the success page, and then I will to your machine and look at your email.

You can do this anytime from now until Friday at 1:30.

I am happy to continue helping with students wishing to purchase their own domain / hosting.

Please note that you must have a link to your LinkedIn page from your Resume page on your Portfolio.

Much of the work has already been started:

  • Write ups with Mr. Bisson
  • Digital Logos in Cawd

The rest of your Portfolio specific will happen over the next 7 school days.

part 1:  hosting

If you want your own version of WordPress.org installed on hosting you pay for (if you want your own domain as an example) this is acceptable and I can help you sign up / setup.

part 2:  development options

You can choose to develop in these different “ways”:

  • Hand code everything yourself – full control.
  • Use a front-end framework like Bootstrap.
  • WordPress.com powered (Maximum grade of an 85 – it just isn’t as rigorous)
  • WordPress.org powered on your own hosting.
part 3: the content

First, some general specifics.  All pages must include your visual branding.

Everything must be responsive.  50% of the Portfolios I grade on a 27″ iMac, 50% of them I grade on a Nexus 5.  This is determined by random order on Friday, June 9th at 2:00.  The first 12 of you are the desktop, the final 12 of you are mobile.

What pages need to show up on your Final Exam Portfolio?  These following pages much appear / navigation must have links for:

  • Homepage with bio / introduction / artists statement
  • Project Page #1 (Replace with project name)

Right in the root directory of your spot on the server.  This final exam Portfolio takes over for your Weekly work.  (Ensure that you have your weekly worked organized so I can type in the url for your weekly projects.)

part 5: timing / deadlines

You will have until Friday June 9th at 2:05 to get this complete.  I kick you out, I grade.

part 6: in closing (all the “other” questions i hope to answer)
  • Yes you can work outside of class hours.
  • No I can’t help with technical / artistic questions as this is your final exam.  I can answer specifics about the Final Exam at any point.  The only alteration to this are students who want to get their own hosting. Yes, I will help you get everything working on your site.
  • Yes you can get help so long as nobody else writes code for you.
  • Dailies will happen each day (other than Friday’s) and you must show Portfolio work for credit.
