Notes

  • All 1st Quarter Work is due today by noon.  I grab notes from bin at 12:00, anything not turned in by then is not graded for the 1st quarter.
  • Week 8 Work is due today at 3pm.
  • Week 9 Work is due tomorrow at 3pm.
  • Continuing with our theme, we are going to use this morning for site maintenance, getting all late and current work taken care of.  We all have the time to work, let’s use it wisely, and earn as much credit as we deserve.
  • Some people *think* they turned in late work, especially animations / movies…but you only turned in the premiere project file -> which you get no credit for.  Please turn in what is requested for a grade.
  • Check your emails -> Mr. Bisson is requiring 7 students to stay after school Thursday due to missing myths.  Are you one of the lucky seven?  Handle it.

1:15 Tuesday / Thursday Max Animation Exercise:  Catapult

Today and Thursday afternoon you are going to be creating a Catapult device for a Ancient Greek themed MMORPG that we started working on yesterday.

You are working for a game company which is making a immerse 3D World for an upcoming Greek themed MMORPG, think World of Warcraft but based in Athens.  You will be creating a “static mesh” which can easily be imported into UDK (Unreal Development Kit) to be used in a Video Game.

Your Creative Director wants to see what you can do on your own -> you are fresh out of design school, ready to make an impression on her.  She has given you the following task:

  • Design / Model / Texture a catapult to be used in the game
  • Create a slow 360 Degree rotation of the project to show off your work – similar our example created at the start of Tuesday afternoon.

You will use the Net Render for this so there is no need to worry about time it takes to render.

Render at our normal settings, and don’t forget to add your 5 second lead to your project at the start in Premiere.

When complete, upload to Week 10 as “catapult.mp4″.

2:05 Dismissal
