Notes

  • Welcome to Week 22!  As I should not have any more meetings with the state for a while, we are getting back into our digital work being due at 3pm on Wednesday’s.
  • No Site Maintenance as most everything was due.  I do need your “LIFE Schedules” by Wednesday at 3pm.
  • Wait for it.
  • Readjusted schedule this morning due to visitors.  If you have Visitors that session you get extra credit and don’t have to do that specific Pass Fail.
    • Visitors First Session (9:35 – 10:05)
      • None scheduled – be ready though…
    • Visitors Second Session (10:35 – 11:05)
      • Haley
      • Sarah
      • Soren
  • Doors locked immediately after school as normal for Monday.
  • The CTE Open House for students interested in Cawd is this Saturday!  If you have family, friends, or enemies who may enjoy a class like Cawd (and are good people) please tell them to come visit us on Saturday.  If they are bad people tell them the open house has been canceled.
  • More visitors tomorrow!
  • Vocab posted – quiz on Friday as we try to get back to normal.
  • I am going to accept Google 20’s turned in (from last Monday) today BY ENGLISH for full credit.  The Week 20 “What is due” said they were due on Friday, but it didn’t say that on the actual assignment.  Many of you turned in A level work already for this 20, but if you were confused get it in today and email me for full credit (use “LATE WORK” email format, but it won’t be late.)
  • Penny Wars (Raisin collection) and the food drive have been extended to Thursday, February 23rd.  Collect Collect Collect.  If we are going to take part in something, let’s crush it.  We win not only ice cream but some sort of Movie as well.  Do you want to get out of your 7/8 class for a movie and ice cream?
  • Happy Birthday Alex!

9:45 Design Homework 21:  The Curve

This week’s Design Homework will be based on interpreting, and working off what exists when creating your design.

First we are all going to draw a curve in colored marker (not black) on a sheet of drawing paper.  Draw a pretty large curve, as seen above.  Bottom right sign your name as “Curve by Isaiah Drown”, obviously replacing your name.  This should really take seconds.  No more detailed than what you see above.

Then I will collect papers and redistribute randomly in class.  Students will take the sheet assigned to them and tape into the next page of their sketchbook.

You will then create a design based off of the curve drawn for you in pencil.  The only requirement is that you must draw the “up” version of your project based on where the designer signs their name.

It will be obvious (as the point) where the curve artist made their marker based curve, and the second designer made their pencil based sketch.  An example – can you see which curve above was used?

Sign and date with your name near the original curve artists signature.  Due 1 week from today in your sketchbook.

9:55 Morning Web Design Pass Fail #1

In Week 22 create a folder called “mondayPF”.

Create a new html document called “procedure.html”.

Write a document in html which describes the procedure needed to make a grilled cheese sandwiches.  This must include:

  • Page organization (use at least 2 types of headings)
  • Supplies needed (use unordered list)
  • Process (use ordered list)

When you think you are done raise your hand and I will come and look at your results, and your code.  This is graded as pass fail, 100 or a 0.

10:10 Break (15 Minutes)

10:25 Morning Web Design Pass Fail #2

Inside your “mondayPF” folder create a new html document called “beachStory.html”.

Write a new html document which includes the following 7 words in a story / paragraph.

  1. Beach
  2. Boat
  3. Palm Tree
  4. Sand
  5. Wave
  6. Sun
  7. Shell

Each word must appear bold (use the <strong> tag) and must link to an image that represents that word correctly.  These images are not to be saved, but linked to online.  Are you telling us to hotlink?  For this…yes.

When you think you are done raise your hand and I will come and look at your results, and your code.  This is graded as pass fail, 100 or a 0.

When complete both pass files the rest of the time before English is yours to work quietly.

12:45 Monday Afternoon Google Inspired 20% Project

Due to visitors today and Tuesday morning, it makes sense to have our Google on Monday.

While I did this to better work with our schedule, I don’t really hate the idea of Google on Monday versus Friday.  It seems to make Monday a little bit nicer, having some personal control to what you get to create.  Thoughts?

Save with the “20” nomenclature into your Week 22 folder.  Due next Wednesday at 3pm.
