A client has asked you to build a site previously designed by a graphic / web designer. Using your skills and resources, you must re-create THIS layout (image to the right) and it must be responsive.

The actual content can be up to you (no memes….). But it must follow the layout.

Requirements:

  • Responsive
  • Valid
  • Parallax style scrolling (Smooth preferably)
  • ONE HTML page
  • Re-create logo (5-2-1)
  • Color Palette
  • Pretty Imagery (Unsplash)
game final (choice)

The game design final is broken apart into 3 different small projects. You will be creating a character, a level and story / rules.

Character Design:

You will be creating a character sheet very similar to the Overwatch reference kits. You will display the character in different angles, any weaponry (preferably not guns), their styles (like colors, textures, particle effects, etc.), and their description / backstory.

You can do this by hand, digital drawing, or even by model. But how ever you complete this, it must be in color. Your sheet must be clear enough for a modeler or cosplayer to grab and re-create.

Level Design:

You will be creating a level following your character. This level must show a clear start and end point, objective, style, and challenge.

Story / Rules:

You will create a document that describes the plot or purpose of your game. In this document you will include:

  • Rules
  • Story
  • Why the game is fun
  • Art style
  • Inspiration

You will be designing a specific coffee house brand from the ground up. You are in control of the name, style, font choice, so on. But keep in mind that this is for a coffee house. So neon greens and pinks may not be best suitable for this. 

As you can see to the right, Black Bear Brews is a fake coffee house company but the style is extremely consistent over many different products. Your project will be to create:

  • A Name
  • A Logo (5-2-1)
  • Product placement
    • Coffee Mug
    • T-shirts
    • Business Card
    • 1 other of choice (bag, coaster, mug)
  • Extremely simplified Style Guide (1 page 8.5 x 11)
    • Mission Statement
    • Target Audience
    • Logo

    • Imagery / Inspiration
2d animation final (choice)

You will be creating a short animation (length up to you) that displays at least one full walk cycle of a character. This character must be shown growing up from infant to elder with at least 3 key events in this animation.

Your entire animation does not need to be frame by frame, you can show a SLIGHT amount of choppiness in the walking cycle do to time. Creating an entire true walk animation alone could take way longer than a week.

Your final animation also does NOT need to be in color. I am more focused on the display of the events and walk cycle in your animation.

photography final (choice)

This photography project will definitely require that you take these cameras home and take some shots outside of school.

The photography final will be to illustrate a story over the course of 50 photographs. The story itself can really be anything. It can be the adventures of a cat, or a “stop motion” like scene, or an group of photos that convey the growth a specific emotion over time. It really can be anything. What I am grading you on is the camera techniques and rules. They are as fallows:

  • Best use of Depth of Field
  • Proper contrast and lighting in each photo
  • Rule of thirds MUST be obvious
  • At least 5 different shot types (Shots and Angles)
  • Every photo edited slightly
written reflection (everyone)

Everyone will be writing a short reflection on their CTE experience. Some might have three years to reflect on, some may have two years. The purpose of this paper is to reflect off of the learning and growth you have all had over your CTE careers. In this paper I want you to specifically hit on a couple key points:

  • Why was CTE something you wanted to do?
  • Why did you choose CAWD?
  • What skills (personal and tech) did you have coming into CTE?
  • What skills are you leaving with?
  • What areas do you feel like you have grown the most?
  • What areas do you feel can still grow?
  • Is there anything you would of done differently?
  • Are you happy with the decision you made?

I would like you include all of these questions in some way. Please do not just put them in a list and answer them one by one. I want this to be a narrative / reflection of your time at CTE. So casual conversation talk is better.

On Friday June 9th, you will all have an exit interview with myself about your paper. We will talk about your growth and experience on a 1v1 basis. NOT A PRESENTATION.
