12:45 Design the Band

I would like to clarify that by NEXT WEDNESDAY (May 24th) I would like to get these site done. This is what you should have done by then:

  • Home
  • About
  • Merch
  • “Other” (This is where I would like you to place the OTHER types of things we have made. Brochure, business cards, social media, style guide, etc.

Even If you are doing a one page site, you should have all these sections.

By next Wednesday you will also have it be responsive, Which can be super easy if you work in percents. wink wink hint hint…

CSS Examples

This afternoon is going to be a couple CSS Tricks that can hopefully help with organization and responsive design. Through the week we will work on our CSS and other pages for the site (if you are not doing a one pager).

If you didn’t get to do or haven’t check out Flexbox Froggy, please give it a shot. Fun and easy to learn.

We as a “firm” will help create apparel, graphics, and an online image for a band of choice. Please choose a band that less recognized. No Pink Floyd or Arctic Monkeys. We are going to act as if we have the time to interview this group. We need to garner as much information about them as possible. We’ll use this time to watch videos of the group, listen to their music, and ask questions about them as individuals and as a group.

The plan is to create all content like their Website, social media, posters, brochures, business cards, CDs, apparel, photography, mission, etc. As a “firm”, we will have full creative freedom with minimal feedback from the band throughout the process. At the end of the 2-3 weeks, we will have a massive critique session to see how our content connects to our bands.

things we have completed:

Feeding off the interview, mission statement and style guide, we will create websites to showcase everything we created AND everything the band needs to make their band come to life. Making a website has to be the most crucial element to this entire project. Also why I will be giving 2 weeks of time to create the entire site. Making pages per day.

Please go out and find 3 pieces of inspiration. Put them in a folder called “Inspiration”. These shoud be the guides to your site.

Pencil and paper, I want you to outline your homepage in a wireframe. Just your Homepage.

Here is a good photo of wireframe elements.

Here is a website with some good wireframe examples. But your will be drawn.

You can use balsamiq to see wireframe elements too.

I would like you to strickly focus on the HTML code for your homepage. Lets not worry about CSS just yet. It’s best to code your framework first THEN go in and style what you have.

Please start your website in a BAND folder inside your week_33. This will be where you entire site will stay for the next two weeks.

When complete upload as Inspiration (folder), hand to me Wireframe and start BAND index.html to your week_33 folder.
