10:20 Morning Photoshop Content: Helping Mr. Bisson
In this Photoshop exercise you are going to be doing some Photoshop work for Mr. Bisson. He coaches basketball, and needs some assistance in putting together a team photo together.
Inside of the “bissonPhotoshop” folder you will find two images, along with two files that are marked up for directions.
In the file “doThisPart1.png” you will find a team picture with one player with arrows on him. This player needs to go to the other file “doThisToHere.png”, where the arrows are located. The player should go in the back of the team, and his head should be at the top of the black mats in terms of height.
Using your Photoshop skills, put this “extra” player into the other file. Use multiple layers, color balances, etc, to make the images combine into a seamless image.
Create a “bissonPhotoshop” folder inside of your Week 21 folder, and upload your combined photo to this folder as “yourLastName.png”.
The file that Mr. Bisson choose to use will get extra credit.
When complete, study for our quiz!!!
10:45 Break (15 Minutes)
11:00 Morning Web Exercise: Portfolio #3.
This morning you are going to work on the third version of your portfolio. You will create a similar setup to what we did this morning. Do not just take our morning exercise and change the words. We have given you time to fully create this, so you get practice and will know what you are doing later on. I may sound like an after school special but “you are only cheating yourself”, something like that. Create the pages, ask questions, learn the content.
Technical requirements:
- header graphic on the top of your page
- navigation along the left hand side
- content on the right hand side, in a separate div
Page by page length requirements:
- Pick your 6 “best” projects
- On each project page a large heading with the name of said project
- Create a thumbnail at 320 x 240 in size (You may already have some of these thumbnails made)
- Write a 3-5 sentence paragraph that describes your project, which will come after the image. Your paragraph should address:
- Why you think this is one of your best projects.
- What you were practicing / learning on this project.
- Link to a full sized version sample.
Save all content in a “porfolioV3″ inside of Week 21; upload all content to this folder. Check for green check mark after you upload!

12:50 Tuesday / Thursday Afternoon 2 Day Web Research Project: Web Browser Site and Optional Presentation.
This afternoon we are going to start working on a web site in which you will learn about a specific web browser. Browsers are the software we use to view the web, and while we all may have just used Internet Explorer for years because “it was just there”, there are many different browsers available that have their strengths and weaknesses.
So first, go online and select a web browser. There are many many options to choose from.
Second, you are going to create a website which covers the following information. Each section will be its own page.
- Name of browser – include a screen shot – (this will be the index.html)
- Who makes it
- When did it first appear?
- What is the current version?
- What is the market share? Is it becoming more or less popular?
- Does it cost anything to use?
- What are the benefits to using this browser, what are its features?
- What are the limitations to using this browser?
- Find out where, and give a link to where, it can be downloaded
You will use the internet to get this information, and you will be putting it into your own words. You need to read, learn, and *think* about the information, synthesizing it, and then putting it down in your own words, paraphrasing the content.
How fully you describe the content will be the most important part of this grade. I do not want cutting and pasting.
Every subsection (page by page) needs to have a link to your source content. Without a source link, you are ineligible to get credit for that component.
Technical Requirements:
- use of images and css
- use of a vertical navigation bar on the left hand side of the screen
- each of the above sections gets its own page – while the page content may be small it will be good practice. Make your main div relatively small to work with the content.
- Creation of a header image for your project that goes along with the theme of your chosen web browser.
Thursday afternoon create a folder called “browser” in Week 21 and upload your project there.
If Thursday afternoon you would like to present your website to the class, and you can comfortably present your information (not read word for word, know the material and present it) you will get extra credit for the week.
