11:00 Illustrator with Moore
For the next 3 weeks I will be coming in to meet you all once again and to teach you the ways of illustrator. The best part is, If you have opened up photoshop before (which I know you all have), we are already in a good place. Over the next three weeks we will be practicing with the major tools in illustrator such as:
- Pen tool
- Selection and Direct Selection
- Clipping Masks
- and more….
The first tool we HAVE to get comfortable with is the pen tool. This tool will be your lifeline to vector illustrations. This tool allows you to create organic shapes, not just squares and circles.
We will be be following a worksheet to help us start getting use to the pen tool. If you look in the example files, you should see a file called penGuides.jpg.
Using a reference image in the example files called pear.jpg, we are going to make a quick pear with a BIG bite taken out of it. We will practice how to make a linear and radial gradient to this pear to add depth, but keep the nice look of flat vector art.
This pear will not only give us more practice with the pen tool, help us with gradients, but we can also use it to add out first bit of text. I’ll teach you a nice and easy design tip to make your text pop a little bit more than default.
Lastly today, I will go over the basics to clipping masks. Because of illustrators layers, we need to go about our clipping masks a little bit differently. One layer, two objects, right click, mask. I’ll go over this again, don’t worry.
