9:40 Character Move and Projectile

This morning we will be taking steps together to make a super simple character movement controller and a projectile controller.

We will have two character movement scripts. Our first will be the basics to move the character with WASD. The second will give us control of our mouse, this will be the way we look around. Fairly basic computer based character controller.

After, we will be creating a projectile emitter and projectile for our characters attack. In this case, we are just going to use a basic sphere. We need to make sure we add a rigidbody and force to this object to make it move forward.

After the few scripts, I would like you to apply the controllers to your own character in your own level.

11:00 Character Move and Projectile Cont. / Apply

This time is given to you for your own character and projectile.

When complete, take a screen shot of your character with the scripts applied and upload as characterMove.jpg to your week_13 folder.

12:45 Papercraft

charmander naruto spongebob

For the afternoon we are going to do something that I hope most of you will find cool/fun. Papercraft is the idea of creating foldable little bits of paper that will create something like a character, console, design concept, ect. In college I made Mega Man, mainly Because that was one of the best games ever.

Cubeecraft is a nice website for inspiration and also downloading your own for a later time. Or if you just google papercraft, you will get a million different ideas. Some insane looking ones. Today we are going to focus on creating human shaped characters, this does not mean we are creating humans.

Here is a template for you to start with in photoshop. The one above shows the feet and hands a little better, so it’s a nice reference.

When complete, upload as papercraft.jpg to your week_13 folder.
