12:45 Pre-Tech Salsa Labels and Logos
This afternoon, Mrs. Wolfe’s class will be coming in to partner up, student by student, to help through the creative process of making a label and logo for their Salsa project. We have a good amount of you that have done this project before with Mrs. Wolfe, so you really have the experience and now the creative knowledge to help these students make even better salsa than before. Let’s leverage this advantage to make these students experience really unique. Below you will see a general guideline that can help you through the process with the students.
1) Art Direction and Style
The students coming to us have picked out 5 adjectives and a color palette to guide there design choice. Talk with them about their choices, brainstorm ideas that can fit inside their choices, and give them your creative feedback to why you think something will or will not work. Take a minute to hop online, find pieces and ideas of inspiration so both you and the “client” are on the same page. Focus on the whole general style of their salsa brand. NOT JUST THE LOGO. At the end, the logo, label and salsa all need to be one cohesive style.
We have to find a direction for a label. There are a few things we need to keep in mind while thinking about the label.
We need space for the following:
- Nutrition (Can be fake)
- Bar Code (Can be fake)
Mr. Cronin’s class will be taking these logos and labels and placing them on jars to be animated later this week. Because of that, we need to make sure our aspect ratio for our jars are 2×1. Example 600×300 or 800×400
3) Logo Ideas and Direction
Once you have picked a label / direction, start brainstorming some logo ideas. Grab your sketchbooks or sketch paper, hop online for some inspiration, sketch a couple ideas out with the students, and discuss more ideas from there. Please keep in mind their adjectives and color palettes they all brought with them.
4) Wrap Up and Exchange Contact
Hopefully by the end of today we have a really solid direction for you all to work in. Your logo and label will 100% not be done today. Exchange contact info with your client (email) so you can keep them updated as the design continues.
