9:45 Short Youtube Animation
UPDATE – You will have the rest of the week for this project. Animations will be due Wednesday, March 14th.
(quality of second video may not be that great….)
As you can see above, the videos shown are NOT the highest quality animations. But to convey the story through visuals differently than the actual events. Some jump from still frames scaling / panning around, and some go to frame by frame animating. So the style / quality is really up to you.
You have choice for you youtube clip, but this HAS to be school appropriate. So:
- No swearing
- No offensive jokes
- No references to “things”
- No hate
- No dying
- So on…
- 30-60 Seconds
- 1280 x 720
- Mouth Movements (animals, humans, aliens)
- Color (just the right amount)

12:45 SkillsUSA / Student Specific Studies
UPDATE – Mr. Cronin has moved his SkillsUSA prep time to afternoons. This really only affects Goodman and Carner.
This is not a study hall. This is not Site Maintenance. This is not a drill.
I will be checking up on your work frequently to see where you are in your progress.
12:45 Soren and Haley – SkillsUSA Animations
UPDATE – We only have 4 weeks now. I need to start SEEING the practice and animations. Non-rendered animations are better than no animations.
Over the next few weeks, we will be practicing the principles of animation for the SkillsUSA competition. But also, I want to use this practice to focus on how one can tell a story with emotion and context, but with inanimate objects.
The video above explains pretty well each principle of animation. Most of these you should already know but if you need a refresher, the video is there for you.
Haley – I would like you and Soren to come up with your first animation principle idea and be ready to pitch it to the class before lunch. I would like you to talk more about the story and context that is happening with your object. How will you add emotion to an object of choice?
Soren – I would like you to focus on the principles and choose an object / thing you would like to use over each principle. I want some object that will stay consistent over each principle. Be ready to pitch this before lunch too.
Here are some more resources. Individual videos per principle.
These are suppose to be super super short animations. I am not giving you an exact length I want any of these. You may give yourself that hard number.
My goal again for this practice to to FEEL and SEE emotion through some object.
I would like to see AT LEAST 2 principles per week. There are 12 and we have little less that 4 weeks left before SkillsUSA.
12:45 Tenzin and Reid
Tenzin, I believe Reid will not be here again today, but here are some resources to help “how to pitch x, y, z…”
The end goal is to have a ONE Sentence pitch. This ONE sentence pitch will be the start to your normal 5-7 minute pitch.
Let’s start with the talking points, let’s figure out what we want to hit on, even if we don’t know anything about the game.
First practice will be Friday. It will be a rough run through, but it will be fine.
12:45 Sarah Pin Speech
Today I would like you to reflect and revise. The only true nugget of information I have that can help you in your presentation is, Jimmy had amazing preparation and you had an amazing verbal presence.
The date is April 4th. What do you feel you need to prepare? Better picture? Better booklet?
Each Friday till the competition we will have you practice present.
Computers off or asleep. Check work and go. Check Dailies
