9:45 Student Council Reps?
First Student Council Meeting is this Thursday from 12-12:30. We have two returning members of student council.
- Jimmy Jiang
- Harold Wood …. Sorry I mean Maliki
This year, we will allow these two members to continue if they so choose. While adding ONE new CAWD2 representative to the group.
If you are interested, please let me know so I can add you into our new voting system.
Once I know who wants to join, we can have a little “debate”. 30 second speech on why you feel you should join Student Council. No preparation, all from the gut.
10:00 Emmy Charron Pre-Visit Survey
Take 5 minutes here to fill out some basic information for Emmy Charron. She needs some ground info to help you out on Thursday.
10:05 Role Models and Inspirations
When we see skills in others, we gain skills in ourselves. It’s important to find role models in our lives to help guide us through learning skills or characteristics.
I would like you all to look for 3 role models in your lives. This can be a family member, a friend, a coworker, teacher, or what I believe the be the most impactful, someone in your industry of choice. I want you to look deep into “Why are they a role model for you?” and “What do you plan to gain from them?”
What I want you to document:
- What is a Role Model to you? (1 description)
- Who is a Role Model to you? (3 people)
- Describe who they are.
- Describe what they do.
- Why are they a role model to you?
- What characteristics do they have?
- What do you want to gain from them?
Extra Credit: Extra credit for anyone who makes this into a visual graphic of some sort. Video, graphic design, animation, model. So on.
When complete upload as roleModels.pdf (or extra credit file type) to your week_6 folder.

12:45 Google 20%
11:45 UPDATE: Who is thinking SkillsUSA teams? This can include Web, Game, or 3D Animation for the group competitions. T-shirt and Pin are later. I want to gauge interest. If you are thinking of doing one of these contests, you should probably be using this time to start making that game or diving hard into code / animations. This is truly up to you. Later in the year (Feb-Mar.) we will have dedicated time for SkillsUSA preparation, but I would not rely solely on that for creating a game.
I am giving you all TWO AFTERNOONS this year for google 20%. I did this for two big key reasons:
- Ability to continue projects more seamlessly from week to week.
- Allow every student (who doesn’t leave on both afternoons) to get a google 20% each week.
I truly do feel we make our best work when our creativity can flourish. Set yourself a reasonable SCOPE for a project and go from there.
Self-directed time for a topic of choice. It can be anything CAWD related. Go out, find a couple tutorials, maybe some inspiration for a specific piece of art, or learn a new skill altogether. Rough topics below to maybe help you out:
I’ll be going around at 1:00 every Tuesday & Friday to gather your topics. You can always continue your projects from week to week (I highly encourage that your do!), but I need to see significant progress.
