CAWD Game Day!

On Wednesday afternoon Cawd had a game afternoon before the long weekend. During lunch a couple of second years took a trip to Little Caesar’s and picked up 18 Pizzas and a ‘liter of cola’ (points for knowing the movie) or two.

So from noon till about 5pm we played a little Halo 3, Smash Bro’s N64, Mario Cart Wii and Fable 2. I believe we had around 6 360′s, 2 64′s and a PSP or two running at once (I can only estimate because I was in video game mode / tunnel vision). All of the 360′s were networked together and in a single game of Halo 3, BTW I won all the games, even the games I wasn’t in.

For those past students that would like to visit and maybe partake in pizza and some Halo 3, we maybe having another game day on November 21st, right before the Thanksgiving break. So past Cawd students in college coming back for their thanksgiving break, drop us an email beforehand and your welcome to visit anytime (with coffee).

All of them…

We are happy to say that we now have all 3 versions of Smash Brothers to use in CAWD, as the following picture illustrates.

That cart on the bottom left is the Japaneese version of Smash Brothers 64, which a certain student picked up while in Japan this summer.

There are less differences than you would think, some different character names and sound effects, but suprisingly similar to the American game. Someone said the thought the AI was less difficult in the Japaneese version, but who knows.

So – the moral of the story is we are playing at lunch, earning CAWD money to……what should we do? Any new movies CAWD related that seem good? I mean, something better than that alien infused Indiana Jones malarkey?

The Chairs are finally dead…

The old CAWD chairs have moved to a farm, where they will have plenty of space to roll around and chair to their hearts content. They truly are in a better place, maybe they will see your first dog there; you know the one your parents sent to that farm to run around and chase cats and just enjoy life all around. I miss Snowball, I wonder how she’s doing at that farm.

So now we have some new chairs in class that aren’t falling apart and squeaky. They also have arms and seat backs that don’t randomly fall off. So just a heads up, you mess around with these chairs, and I may have to send you to live on this farm I was mentioning. Also, the new carpet is in and looks pretty good with the dim lights and the new chairs.

Sadly, for the third straight summer, the tables that are attached to the side wall were not raised up and are still pretty low. So, you might want to get to class early this year or get stuck at the preschool hieght desks, your call.

For you second year, the second projector and screen have been installed so we can watch movies and play 64 when the first years are in English… Just kidding, you second years better be ready to learn some serious Chuck Norris like PHP skills and maybe a little jQuery / Ajax.

See you all Wednesday.

Super Smash Bros Brawl

Sephia brawl
We finally got Super Smash Bros Brawl, and have been playing it every free moment for the last 2 days. After playing the n64 smash for 2 years, jumping to Brawl is a HUGE difference, Brawl’s graphics look a thousand times better. The fire and bombs don’t look like animated .gifs anymore, and the character models look dramatically better due to the fact they have more than 12 polys. As always Kirby is still just a glorified sphere and looks the same, but he still owns all others.

The biggest difference between the two games is the pace. The pace in Brawl is a so much faster, I get lost and have no idea where I am, what game I’m playing or even what my name is. This is the first time in a video game that I feel that I just can’t keep up with the pace and it makes me feel like a middle aged person playing an atari for the first time in the mid 80′s. There is so mush happening on the screen sometimes that I feel like I should just give up and go back to the n64 version; or better yet, where’s my atari 2600, I can pwn me some noobs on that thing.
